Transfers

moving.jpgAny tenant can apply for a transfer, however you must satisfy a few points before being offered a new home.

  • If you are in arrears with your rent you must reach an agreement to repay the arrears before receiving an offer of a new home.
  • If the Association has taken you to court about rent arrears your move could be delayed until the arrears have been significantly reduced or even cleared.
  • If you have been recharged for some repair work you must reach an agreement to repay the bill before receiving an offer of a new home.
  • In order to be considered for a transfer you must have shown the Association that you can look after your home and carry out your tenancy well. If we have serious concerns about the way you have behaved, or treated your home, we may choose to turn down your application for a transfer.

In order to apply for a transfer you will need to fill in a brief application form. We can send a form out to you, however if you would like help filling the form in you could call in to the office in person and speak to a member of the Housing department.

Once we receive your application your Housing Officer will visit you within two weeks, and an inspection of your home will be arranged for the near future.

Your application will be added to our transfer waiting list. We don’t use points for transfers anymore as we offer priority to Rhondda Housing Association tenants hoping to transfer. If there is more than one tenant on the list the tenant who has been on the list the longest will receive the offer.

house.jpgWe try to encourage tenants living on estates to stay on their estate, so if you would like to move to a more appropriate property on your estate we will try to help.

Similarly, if you would like to transfer to a smaller property we will try to help as you would be handing back a bigger property which we could use for someone else.

If you feel that you need to move urgently, contact your Housing Officer to discuss the matter. Where there are cases of harassment, domestic violence, disability or a severe decline in health our Housing Manager can approve an urgent transfer and we will try to find you a new home as soon as possible.
